UT-gel(HT) is a modified ultra-high-temperature organoclay with a maximum temperature resistance up to 450℉. It is mainly used as a viscosifier for oil-based drilling fluids such as diesel-based, white oil-based and synthetic-based systems. It can effectively improve the stability of inverse emulsion systems, provide required rheological properties of drilling fluids, reduce fluid loss, and enhance the hole cleaning and cuttings carrying capacity of drilling fluids.
When the supporting additives of the drilling fluid system, including emulsifiers, wetting agents and fluid loss additives, are all resistant to high temperature of 450℉, this organoclay can function normally without performance loss at the drilling fluid temperature of 450℉.
The typical dosage is 1.5–3%, depending on the oil-water ratio.
Under normal handling and application conditions, UT-gel(HT) will not cause adverse impacts on human health and the environment.
