FLO-TROL is a specially processed, modified nonionic cross-linked starch that serves as an efficient, environmentally friendly filtrate-loss-control additive, resistant to salt and calcium contamination, for use in drilling, completion, and workover fluids.
By modifying its molecular structure, cross-linked starch (FLO-TROL), when used together with xanthan gum, enables drilling fluid systems to develop excellent low shear rate viscosity. This unique polymer combination works synergistically to enhance the static suspension capacity of the fluid while also providing strong pseudoplastic behavior during circulation.
When used in conjunction with suitable bridging agents or weighting materials, FLO-TROL not only reduces fluid loss but also minimizes formation damage, making it suitable for drilling through productive reservoirs.
FLO-TROL is non-toxic and environmentally friendly, posing no ecological concerns.
